  1. World Sleep Day is an annual event observed on the Friday before the Spring Vernal Equinox to raise awareness about the significance of sleep. In 2023, it falls on 17 March. The World Sleep Society has announced the theme for 2023 World Sleep Day as “Sleep is Essential for Health”.
  2. The US Senate Committee has announced the appointment of Eric Garcetti as the new US Ambassador to India.
  3. Celebrating 75 years of friendship, India and Luxembourg launched a Joint Commemorative Stamp on 15 March, 2023.
  4. Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Narendra Singh Tomar on 15 March, 2023 inaugurated a five-day long ‘AgriUnifest’ in Bengaluru, Karnataka.
  5. Michelle Yeoh won the Best Actress Award for the film ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once” and Brendan Fraser won the Best Actor Award for the film ‘The Whale’ at the 95th Academy Awards ceremony.

  12. The United States Senate has confirmed Ravi Chaudhary, the first Indian-American as the Assistant Secretary of Air Force for Energy, Installations, and the Environment.
  13. GPT4, the most recent release of OpenAI’s large language model, which powers popular apps like ChatGPT and the new Bing, has been announced. 
  14. The Government of India and the World Bank have signed an agreement for the Green National Highway Corridors Project, with loan assistance of $500 million against total project cost of $1,288.24 million (Rs 7,662.47 crore).
  15. Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) conducted two consecutive successful flight tests of Very Short Range Air Defence (VSHORAD) missiles at the Integrated Test Range, Chandipur, off the coast of Odisha on 14 March, 2023.
  16. On 12 March, 2023 Richard Douglas Fosbury (Dick Fosbury), an American High Jumper and Olympic Gold medalist, passed away at the age of 76 in Utah, USA.
